SMS / Text Message Opt-In Policy

Last Updated: August 20, 2026

This SMS / Text Message Opt-In Policy explains how OpenSpindle, LLC ("OpenSpindle," "we," "us," or "our") obtains consent to send text messages, what types of messages we send, and how you can manage or withdraw your consent at any time.

By opting in to receive text messages from OpenSpindle, you agree to this policy, our Privacy Policy, and our Terms of Service.

1. Program Description

OpenSpindle operates a two-sided marketplace and shop operating system for custom fabrication and manufacturing. Our SMS program is used to deliver account, transactional, and operational messages related to your use of the Service, including:

  • Account verification and security: one-time passcodes (OTPs) used to verify your phone number, reset your password, or confirm sensitive account actions.
  • Request-for-Quote (RFQ) activity: notifications when a shop responds to your RFQ, when a new RFQ matches a shop's profile, or when an RFQ requires additional information.
  • Quotes and orders: notifications when a quote is issued, updated, accepted, or expires, and when orders are placed, paid, or ready for pickup or delivery.
  • Production milestones: updates on job status, milestone completion, and shipping notifications (opt-in per project).
  • Invoices and payments: reminders for unpaid invoices, payment confirmations, and payout notifications.
  • Team and scheduling messages: for shop workers and managers, shift, timesheet, and task notifications sent by your shop administrator.

OpenSpindle does not use this SMS program to send unrelated marketing or promotional content.

2. How We Obtain Your Consent

We only send text messages to users who have expressly opted in. Consent is collected in one or more of the following ways:

  • Web sign-up and account settings: When you create an OpenSpindle account or update your profile at openspindle.com/settings, you may enter a mobile phone number and complete a verification step. Enabling SMS notifications in Account Settings constitutes your express written consent to receive text messages from OpenSpindle for the categories described above.
  • Quote request forms: On public quote and RFQ forms (for example on marketplace listing pages and contact forms), providing a mobile phone number and submitting the form constitutes your consent to receive SMS updates about the specific RFQ or quote you submitted.
  • Shop-worker onboarding: When a shop administrator invites you as a worker, you consent to receive operational text messages (shift, timesheet, and task notifications) from that shop through OpenSpindle by completing phone verification during sign-in.

Consent is never a condition of purchase. You can use the OpenSpindle Service without opting in to SMS by leaving your phone number blank or by disabling SMS notifications in Account Settings.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your activity on the Service. Typical volumes are:

  • Account verification messages are sent only when you request them (for example, when signing in or updating your phone number).
  • Buyers can expect roughly 1 -- 10 messages per active RFQ or order.
  • Shops and shop workers can expect roughly 1 -- 20 messages per business day, depending on job volume and enabled notification categories.

4. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. OpenSpindle does not charge you for text messages, but your mobile carrier may charge you for messages sent or received depending on your plan. Contact your carrier for details.

5. How to Opt Out (STOP)

You can withdraw your consent to receive text messages from OpenSpindle at any time by any of the following methods:

  • Reply STOP (or END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT) to any text message you receive from OpenSpindle. You will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages until you opt back in.
  • Sign in to OpenSpindle and turn off SMS notifications under Account Settings.
  • Email us at support@openspindle.com with the subject line "SMS Opt-Out" and the phone number you want to remove.

Note: opting out of SMS does not close your account or stop email notifications. Critical security-related messages (such as one-time verification codes you actively request during sign-in) may still be delivered because they are required to complete an action you initiated.

6. How to Get Help (HELP)
