Central Florida is the center of gravity for military modeling, simulation and training: more than $6 billion a year in contracts flows through the region, the Army and Navy moved their training-device work here in 1965, and UCF was the first university in the country to offer graduate degrees in the field. The two share people and methods, and the traffic runs both ways. Theme park engineers contributed directly to the Navy Battle Stations 21 sailor training system, and in 2026 UCF and Universal launched a joint school built around exactly that overlap.
